For me painting is about learning to see: line, shape, color, and the relationship of objects, but mostly I crave learning to truly see people. I’m examining life with my brush. I find myself painting the figure mostly because of my interest in and love for humanity. Painting someone’s face and figure gives me an intimate look into their personality and character. My project painting women from the Ugandan village my neighborhood has adopted to support through monthly business creation, gave me insight into each woman’s visual story.
